Yeah, thanks for taking my call. I have not told anyone this yet. I do not know how to explain it without sounding crazy, but I will try. This happened two nights ago. I got home somewhere after midnight. I remember the house feeling off the second I walked in. It was too quiet. Not normal quiet. The sound felt pulled out of the room. I closed the door behind me and took a couple of steps in, and that is when I saw it. Someone was standing at the top of the stairs. Completely still. Not shifting, not breathing heavy, nothing. And right away I knew it was not a person. The shape was wrong. Too thin, too long in the limbs, and the head was… smooth and stretched. The eyes were huge and black. It was looking straight down at me. I froze. My body just refused to move. I do not know how long I stood there staring up at it. Then it made this sound. A chirping noise. Light and quick, like a small bird.[ That little chirp made my stomach drop. It did not match the thing at all, and that mismatch scared me more than seeing it.
Before I could even react to the chirp, it let out a scream. Not human. Nothing close. It was this raw, tearing sound that felt like metal being ripped apart. It hit me so hard in the chest I could not even breathe. I am not proud of this, but I lost control of myself. I peed my pants right there. I am a grown man, I know how that sounds, but that scream went straight through me. I ran. I did not think, I did not look back. I grabbed my keys and was out the front door so fast I left my shoes inside. I got into the car and just started driving. No plan. I just needed to get as far away from that house as I could. I think I drove around for about 7 hours before I realized I was only wearing my jacket and my underwear. I do not remember taking my pants off but i must have at some point. After a while the panic turned into this hollow, numb feeling, and I kept going. I was too afraid to go home, you know what i mean?. I kept driving. Empty roads, no cars, nothing. My car's clock was broken, stuck on twelve o'clock, but I could tell from how light it was getting that I had been out for almost 5 hours. Just looping around the county while the sky slowly got lighter.
When the sun finally came up, I forced myself to go back. I sat in the driveway for a long time before opening the door. The house looked completely normal. Warm sunlight, nothing out of place, no sign anyone had been inside. But the second I walked past the staircase i remembered it standing at the bottom of the stairs. at the top of the stairs must have been terrifying - Zach' It makes me feel insane, because everything looked normal in the morning. But the scream was real. The way it hit me was real. And that little chirp... sometimes I still hear it in my head when the house gets too quiet. This happened on a Tuesday night. I remember because Wednesdays are my standing work meeting days at 9 AM. I called in sick that Wednesday morning. Anyway. I just needed to tell someone who might actually listen. Maybe some of your listeners have heard that sound before? like a bird..
