Evening. I'm calling from Texarkana, and I need to tell you about something that happened back in '71. May 2nd, to be specific. My wife and I, we'd just moved into a house outside Fouke, right near the swamp. Boggy Creek area, if you know it. We'd only owned the place for about five days when this happened, I mean. Brand new house for us, out in the country. My brother Don was staying with us too, helping us get settled in. We thought it was going to be peaceful, you know.

So for a few nights before the attack, I'd been hearing something moving around[ outside. Late at night, after we'd all gone to bed. Heavy footsteps, branches breaking, that kind of thing. I figured it was maybe a bear or a big deer, something like that. We were right up against the swamp, so wildlife was expected. On the night it happened, my wife Liz was sleeping on the couch in the front room. It was warm that night, so she had the window open with just the screen. I was in the bedroom with Don. Must've been around midnight when I heard her scream. I ran out there and she was backed up against the far wall, pointing at the window. She said something had reached through the screen. A hairy arm with claws on the end. And she'd seen its eyes. Red eyes, she said, staring right at her.

Don and I grabbed our rifles and went outside. We had a flashlight and we were scanning the yard, looking for whatever it was. And then we saw it, back behind the house. Standing there in the beam of the flashlight. It was huge. Had to be seven feet tall, maybe more. Three feet across the chest, easy. Covered in dark hair, matted and thick. The thing that got me was how it stood. Upright, like a man, but hunched forward. And those eyes, they reflected the light back at us. Bright red, just like Liz said. eye reflection is consistently reported - Casey' We both fired at it.[ I know we hit it because we saw it drop. But when we started walking toward it, we heard the women screaming again from inside the house. I turned and ran back.
